This one matters more than people expect: US and UK/metric measuring cups and spoons are genuinely different sizes, not just different names for the same amount. A "cup" or "tablespoon" isn't the same size everywhere. Teaspoons are the one exception — the US teaspoon (4.93 mL) and the modern UK/metric teaspoon (5 mL) are close enough that most recipes treat them as interchangeable.
